A place for Mon and English to meet.
Mon English brings language learning and language research together. The same carefully reviewed sentence can help someone begin a conversation and help researchers build better language tools.
Learn through everyday language
Lessons pair English phrases with Mon translations and separate recordings in both languages. You can read a phrase, listen, and repeat it at your own pace. Lessons are free to access.
Mon text uses a locally served Padauk web font, so you do not need to install a font to read the lessons.
Keep the words connected to the voice
Each phrase has its own stable ID and page. Research downloads connect the English text, the Mon text, and the original recordings through that ID. Reuse terms and source information travel with the record.
A growing collection. Lessons grow through contributor-provided Mon and English text and original recordings. Availability is labeled on each phrase. Computer-generated English playback is only a listening preview.
Built around reviewed contributions
Mon translations and recordings will be provided by the project contributor. Pairs are released for research only after the texts, recordings, alignment, and reuse information are ready.
